Oceaneering Entertainment to Provide Ride Systems for Falcon’s Beyond in Worldwide Theme Park Rollout

Falcon’s Beyond Global™ has long collaborated with Oceaneering Entertainment Systems (OES) on award-winning experience technologies

Falcon’s Beyond now tapping OES for all ride systems on new Falcon’s Beyond ventures, including dark rides, Suspended Theater®, CircuMotion® Theater, and more

Entertainment powerhouse Falcon’s Beyond Global, LLC has engaged industry leader Oceaneering Entertainment Systems (OES) to provide all ride systems for properties that are currently in development and will be secured for the future rollout of Falcon’s Beyond developed and operated theme parks, throughout the world.

The companies are already working to launch the $100M Katmandu™ Park in Punta Cana, Dominican Republic, slated to open fall 2022, with additional projects to be announced. Falcon’s Beyond is the world’s first fully integrated development enterprise for IP-driven parks, resorts, media, and merchandise. OES ride systems are trusted by the world’s top theme park developers and operators, and OES has won numerous awards for its work on high-profile attractions, on multiple continents.

The collaboration between OES and Falcon’s Beyond teams goes back almost two decades, and includes the development of important new ride technologies, including the patented Suspended Theater® of Falcon’s Beyond. Both companies are based in Orlando, Florida, which has helped enable their long-standing relationship.

Helping Storytellers “Move Their Audiences”

Oceaneering International, Inc. is an engineering and services enterprise operating in aerospace, oil & gas, military and defense, renewable energy, and more. In 2019, it reported $2 billion in revenue. Oceaneering Entertainment Systems leverages the talent, experience, and resources of the greater organization to “help storytellers move their audiences” at the world’s best-known parks.

“We are beyond excited to bring our old friends at OES on board as our ride systems provider worldwide,” said Cecil Magpuri, Chief Executive Officer of Falcon’s Beyond Global. “They share our core values and are well known for the highest standards of quality, safety, and smooth engineering. With full collaboration between our teams, we’re already creating cutting-edge experiences. The Falcon’s Beyond parks—with innovative OES-built rides—will be reliably mind-blowing.”

“We’ve had a fantastic creative relationship with the Falcon’s team going back to 2002, and together we’ve developed extraordinary attractions at leading parks,” said Dave Mauck, Vice President and General manager at Oceaneering International. “We’re thrilled by the Falcon’s Beyond vision for ‘Big-Experience, Small-Footprint’ parks in leading resort destinations around the globe, and we’re truly honored to help our good friends amaze and delight audiences with great storytelling—and engineering.”

“White Shark Origins” of Oceaneering Entertainment Systems

Oceaneering International was formed in 1964 by a group of divers who began designing and operating underwater equipment, including robotic machines. It has grown to be one of the world’s leading providers of engineering solutions across multiple industries. Oceaneering’s debut in the themed entertainment industry came with the opportunity to bring undersea robotic experience to an attraction featuring white sharks. Oceaneering Entertainment Systems (OES) was formed after multiple projects followed suit that featured more sharks and some dinosaurs too! OES went on to expand offerings into rides and have since built systems for some of the most sophisticated, complex, and challenging attractions worldwide.

Among its many accolades, OES won TEA (Themed Entertainment Association) Thea Awards in 2005, 2006, 2007, 2008, 2009, 2013, and 2014. Indeed, their 2006 award was for Curse of DarKastle™ at Busch Gardens Williamsburg, the first OES collaboration with Falcon’s Creative Group.

Part of Falcon’s Beyond IP Expander™ Model, Leveraging Prime Destinations

Falcon’s Beyond was formalized in May 2021 by the consolidation of Falcon’s Creative Group with Katmandu Group. The enterprise has emerged as the world’s first fully integrated source for simultaneous entertainment IP activations—from streaming media development to theme park site acquisition; master planning to brick-and-mortar projects; immersive ride and attraction design to merchandise creation; right through world-class park & resort operation.

The first full expression of the Falcon’s Beyond IP Expander™ model will be the Katmandu IP, wholly-owned by Falcon’s Beyond, and beloved by millions who have visited Sol Katmandu Park & Resort in Mallorca, Spain. Falcon’s Beyond enjoys a joint venture with Meliá Hotels International, one of the world’s leading resort groups with 390+ properties in 40 countries. The Joint Venture will roll out cutting-edge, story-driven Katmandu Parks within prime tourist destinations worldwide, beginning with Katmandu Punta Cana.

OES will be key to implementing revolutionary technologies at the park in Punta Cana, including a dark ride and Suspended Theater®. Engaging OES as a single source for ride systems will help ensure the quality of guest experiences that Falcon’s Beyond is bringing to global markets.

Over the years, Falcon’s Beyond has worked on award-winning experiential entertainment projects totaling over $100 Billion and will soon be announcing additional IP Expander deployments with leading franchises across the world.
